Seattle, show us your Celluloid! MOHAI is launching the 2010-2011 History Is _____ film competition. We invite you to tell us what history means to you in a short film of 5 minutes or less. Filmmakers of all ages and experience levels are invited to participate. Entries will be accepted January 2011 through April 1, 2011. Winning entries will be screened at a Red Carpet Gala hosted by MOHAI in May 2011.

Group Tours: Clutch It! The Purse and the Person

Searching for a unique experience to share with friends? Sign-up for a guided tour of MOHAI's featured exhibit Clutch It! The Purse and the Person. Experienced MOHAI staff and docents will take your group on a thirty-minute, in-depth look at this fascinating display of high-fashion and every-day handbags. Learn how the purses were made, who carried them, and what was inside.

Tours are offered to groups of up-to 25 guests upon request, seven days a week. Groups larger than 25 guests may request additional tours for a reduced rate of $25.

Cost: $50* per tour, in addition to regular admission. $25 for each additional tour.

First Thursday

Each first Thursday of the month, MOHAI opens its doors free to the public from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Visitors can get a closer look at MOHAI's exhibits by joining one of MOHAI's skilled docents on a our gallery tour, or dive deeper into a variety of history topics presented in our evening programs.

First Thursday Tours are offered at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. We also have special events during our evening programs, find out more on our calendar for details.

Exhibit Related Programs

MOHAI presents a collection of public programs that are offered in conjunction with our exhibits and the topics they explore. From talks and discussions, to performances and tours, we provide entertainment and learning experiences that go beyond the gallery.

Workshops

Curious about the past? MOHAI's award-winning workshops have trained hundreds of community members in researching and writing about history. Our wide variety of workshops promises to teach both newcomers and seasoned history buffs new skills for revealing what's old. Check out our upcoming sessions.
