Writer Ivan Doig said this documentary goes “to the deepest part of fidelity.” Narrated by actor Gabriel Byrne, it is the intertwined story of this ‘urban-industrial island on the American frontier’ & America’s own industrialization. A deeply moving human tale that captures the lives of miners, their families and the community as they faced hardship and danger, the film touches on issues of organized labor, the Irish immigrants who came in great numbers, the role of women and the environmental devastation. Producer and director Pam Roberts will speak following the screening. For more on the film visit: butteamericafilm.org.
