Competition Guidelines:
- The title of your film must respond to the prompt: "History Is_____" by filling in the blank with one word or short phrase. Choose the word or phrase that best describes history for you; "fun", "dangerous", "here", "my family", and "all around me" are all great answers.
- Your film must include MOHAI's indroductory graphic, provided here (480p) and here (720p). (Right Click and save the file)
- Running time of your History Is____ film, inlcuding credits and the introductory graphic, must be a minimum of 60 seconds and may not exceed 5 minutes.
How to Enter Your Film:
MOHAI will accept submissions beginning from January 2nd, 2012. Films will be accepted online only, and details on how to upload your film to our site will be available in December 2011.By submitting your film to MOHAI's History Is____ Film Competition, you will be required to consent the following statement:
I grant the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) permission to use my film, (your film's title here) for the purposes of research, marketing, instruction, exhibition, publication, broadcast on the TV and/or Internet, and similar purposes. I assert that I have acquired all necessary licenses and permissions associated with this film (including, but not limited to: copyright permissions for music, photographs, film, etc., as well as signed release forms for participating minors), and take full responsibility for any and all copyright and usage issues and/or possible litigation associated with the film. I further understand that any images I have obtained from MOHAI's archival collection for use in this film may not be used for any other purpose, without expressed written consent from an authorized MOHAI representative.
All films must be successfully up-loaded to MOHAI's History Is____ website by 5:00pm on Saturday, March 31st to be eligible for awards.
Deadlines:
Entries, including all of the associated materials listed above, MUST be received by 11:59pm on Saturday, March 31st, 2012.

Film Categories:
- Viewers' Choice: To be voted on by members of the public, online, during April, 2012.
- Critics Choice: Awarded to the film that best completes all factors being weighed by the judges, including originality, use of theme, and technical proficiency.
- MOHAI History Award: Awarded to the film that shows exceptional attention to historic accuracy and interpretation.
- Best Emerging Filmmaker: Awarded to the best film submitted by young filmmaker(s), ages 18 - 24 years.
- Best Individual Youth: Awarded to the best film submitted by young filmmaker, aged 17 or younger.
- Best Youth Group Project: Awarded to the best film submitted by a group that includes at least two participants aged 17 years or younger (such as a student group or family).
