Description

Bring a museum to your classroom to enhance the teaching of Washington State history. Each Portable Museum Trunk or Kit contains artifacts, a slide show, maps, documents, audio and an extensive Teacher's Manual with EALR-aligned lesson plans and activities adapted to meet individual class needs for grades K-12.

Portable Museum Trunk & Kit Rental

Rent a Portable Museum Trunk or Kit full of photos, documents and artifacts to supplement classroom studies.

Cost: The cost of a 2-week Portable Museum trunk rental is $50. Each additional week costs $25. Portable Museum kits are $30 for a two-week rental and $15.00 for additional weeks.

Pick-up: Teacher is responsible for pick-up and drop-off at MOHAI. Pick up is between 10am and 5pm on or after your confirmed pick-up date. MOHAI is open 7 days a week.

Scholarships: A reduced rental fee of $10 is available for schools with 40% or more of the student population on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. (Fines and rental extension fess still apply.)

Additional Information

Care: MOHAI’s Portable Museum Trunks are BIG! They come with a dolly, but can weigh up to 50lbs and are about 4ft long so plan ahead to ensure you can properly transport them back to the museum.

Portable Museum Kits are smaller and can be carried without a dolly. Our largest kit is 3'X3'.

Trunks and kits should be stored in a secured area, or locked if others have access to them.

Return: You are responsible for returning your trunk or kit to MOHAI. They can be returned to our front desk between 10am and 5pm on or before your scheduled return date. MOHAI is open 7 days a week.

Late returns will result in a fine of $25.00 per day. Renters are responsible for keeping the trunk or kit and the contents safe. You will be charged the market value of lost or broken items.
